Daumenlutscher ist eine internationale Plattform für interkulturelle Diskussionen auf verschiedenen Ebenen: Bildende Kunst, Musik und Mode mit Performances, Poesie- und Filmveranstaltungen. Dabei wird archivarisches Denken gepflegt. Bei jeder Aktivität bevorzugen wir kleinere Formate, keine große Blasphemie oder wilde Materialinteraktionen. Wir versuchen, bescheiden zu bleiben und fragen vielmehr: Was ist nachhaltiges Denken oder praktisches Umdenken?
Unser Handeln ist vergleichbar mit diskursiven Sprechakten in verfremdeten Formaten – sprachlich, philosophisch, aber auch im Sinne der Präsentation “anders”. Freundschaften und Loyalität sind Korum und Anstand unserer Diskussionen, die Formen annehmen und nicht gleich zu Beginn fragen: Wie viel bekomme ich dafür, lieber Scherzi? Wir verstehen uns als Team, das großen Themen lieber aus dem Weg geht und dennoch nie aufgibt, einen weiteren Stein in Y-Form umzudrehen – Warum töten Menschen für Geld, warum morden Menschen für Profit? Warum ist der Preis für Seltene Erden etwas höher als angegeben? Und warum ist die Coolness unserer coolen Tools in Sachen Bildschirmpräsenz nicht so cool, wenn es um unser Klima geht. Wir drehen die Wassertemperatur in unseren Körpern niedriger. Wir sind nicht laut, wir sind nicht flüssig und wir spitzen dinge nicht ins Unmögliche zu – wir arbeiten lieber mit dem größten Kapital, das jede Gesellschaft bieten kann, aber nie wirklich bietet: Eine freie und mutige Gesellschaft Zeit – wir sind spät dran, aber wir schaffen es irgendwie.
Als Slow-Grow-Aktivisten drehen wir uns wie Spinnen. Die Galerie wird von Künstlern für Künstler betrieben und delegiert frei und ohne die Hektik eines White Cubes: Wir lieben NEUKOELN als eine Idee, die Vielfalt begrüßt und das in einer Zeit, in der Politiker alles abschieben wollen, was ihnen ihrer Meinung nach zur Wiederwahl nützt - Stichwort Ausländerfeindliche Propaganda. Trotz einer Welt, die uns durch ständig Freiheit und Zeit verkauft (AI ist hier der Code), ehren wir das frei und mutig sein und sprechen uns aus. Wir aktivieren unsere Gehirne und treiben unsere künstlerischen Fangarme in unsere erstarrten Finger, Bewegungen, Blicke und Geräusche, denn wir denken an massenmörderische Konflikte die permanent an uns vorbeisausen.

Daumenlutscher is an international Plattform for intercultural discussions on a variety of levels: fine art, music and fashion making with performances, poetry and film events, and cherishes archival thinking. For each activity we tend to prefer minor formats, not big blasphemy or wild interactions with materials. We try to stay modest and rather ask, what is sustainable thinking, or practical re-think!
Our actions should be compared to discursive speech acts in alienated formats - on a linguistic, philosophical level but also on a production level. Friendships and loyalty are the corum and the decorum of our discussions that take on forms and do not ask right up front: how much - dear Scherzi ? We consider ourself a team that rather evades big topics and yet, never gives up to turn yet another stone in the shape of the letter Y — Why do people kill for money, why do people murder for profit ? Why is the price of rare earth a bit higher than indicated ? And why is the coolness of our cool tools in regard to screen presence not so cool when it comes to our climate. We keep our water heaters in our bodies down. We are not loud, we are not liquid and not over reacting - we rather work with the biggest asset any society can offer but never really does: A free and brave society cum tempurum : with Time - we are late but we manage it somehow.
As slow grow activists we spin like spiders. The gallery is run by artists for artists and tends to delegate in a free way without the hassle of a white cube space: we love NEUKOELN as an idea that is welcoming diversity in a time when politicians want to deport anything they deem will profit them for reelection. In spite of a world that teachers us through AI that we are not free and not brave, the strange conundrum brain activates and pushes our artistic tentacles into our fingers and movements, looks and noise making.
During 48 Neukeoln the gallery puts on a marathon performance of the present artists and shows also those who can’t make it to berlin,. But we will projects films, short videos, and a fashion show.

THE ARTISTS - FOR 2025 NEUKEOLN - MOSTLY PRESENT
TANG XIAOYU is an artist who works in her work here with a complicated rice papers and coloring process and a rather large format. She evokes here a kind of of beauty that lets her recapture the past and the present and the future. She is a Berlin based artists and pays a lot of time to processes.
MAO YUQIU is a Berlin based artist who speaks the language of slow and patient early art career independence. For this work she offers the gallery one of her amazing rice paper paintings that was installed in a Spring performance during the gallery weekend in Berlin. Her piece is a hope that art can have a transformative fact on people’s life.

PENG XIANGHENG is a Paris and Berlin based artist who loves to work with oil and all other media. As a painter and dancer and performer she is very active also in the team of Daumenlutscher and understands - being a artist is not being a king or a queen but being active and sensitive to healthy living in a land surrounded by strangers She is also a designer and a musician.

SARAH SCHULTZ is a Berlin based artist and educator and contributes with her modest production just in the way that the world is not giving up on the idea what is painting.She is inspired by a long carrier of combining too many functions in one person which only certain people understand. Her paintings are small and took their lessons from a political exciting time.

COMMEDESMARXISTS - is a fashion brand that is a master in negative book keeping. Hence the beauty of commedesmarxists is less the price of the fabrics - yes they cost a lot in some instances and nothing in others - but the elegance people who participate int his world of presentation and self-presentation. Politics is for sure the main topic of this strange body building post-enlightment production that sees beyond curtains, rather loves to lift curtains. For Commedesmarxits body politics is supreme. Consent. No forcing.
Al Jarri is a rather unknown artists who has middle eastern back ground but has not made works for decades. The gallery represents part of his estate. He was active in the middle of the last century in the mostly Arab and French speaking world. The gallery is happy to have two major steal peaces but might have access to more works when the time is right

RAINER GANAHL is a founding member of daumenlutscher and has many ways to express himself - for this show he uses a diversity of formats including canvas, painting, and words and looks. He considers himself as a survivor who tries to achieve a result without spending much money because that is exactly what is missing after too many decades of only art making. The endless studying of Mandarin as fine art and other topics - including fashion design - is part of his practice.

YU ZHIMING is the gambler gamer artificial worrier of distant lands who loves to generate art by major philosophical questionings. He is so slow that the works might not make it on time thought all the borders it has to cross to land in the minds and eyes of the beholder. He will present himself as a chimeric video game designer who never accomplishes his battle field because he is too scared to win. He is the back spirit of sorts and takes his time times square.

AL JARRI works with steal - a work from the estate - a disappeared artist - drawings by Rainer Ganahl drawing placed on top of the second piece by this middle eastern origin artists wihtout much information Daumenlutscher has the estate. More works exist - Comme des Marxists joins the half circle - and asks questions about peace or war. The Performer stars through a chocolate egg and the future of peace is melting down ....
